Day out with my boys

What a perfect family day…

I am sure you are all aware of how much I love family days with my two boys and today was no exception.

We started our day quite early, all three of us up, dressed and leaving the house at 10.45am. (the little man still woke earlier than normal even though we had a restless night – finally falling asleep at 4am)

The first stop was to purchase the boys’ outfits for my ‘soon-to-be’ godson’s christening on Sunday. Why are men so quick when it comes to shopping? The first shop we went to, both of them had full outfits for the day!!

Me on the other hand couldn’t find anything that I liked or that fitted right. I must have picked up about 20 different dresses but none seemed to fall properly at all.

Soon it was time to stop for lunch, so we settled down In the glorious sunshine for a bite to eat and to restore our energy levels.

Then it was back into the ‘dress hunt’ again. I was adamant that I would find one. I had no choice really.. I knew what style I was after but the shops must have been having a ‘lets just sell to skinnie-Minnie’s’ week or month!!!

The only shop left that I could think of was one of the oldest shops around in our local shopping centre – where I used to spend my pocket money when I was younger, so I didn’t hold much hope..

(what harm can it do? At least I can say I have looked!!)

And there it was, my perfect dress right in front of my eyes sparkling ever so brightly as if luring me to buy it.
I’m not going to lie, I got a little bit excited and did a pretty little twirl right there in the changing room as soon as i saw how it looked once on.

I told the big man firmly,Forget the price tag, my feet are killing and it’s coming home with me, no questions!!

I couldn’t resist picking out my accessories now that I had ‘THE DRESS’ 🙂

After four hours of waking, searching every shop possible and gasping for a coffee, we headed back home.

We stopped of at the local barbers and the big man and little man were in desperate need of getting there mops chopped!!

All of my little boy’s curls have gone.. His beautiful ginger curls. He looks so much more grown up now and even more like his daddy 🙂

Mummy thinks next time she will be In charge and will keep it a little bit longer on the top 🙂

What a perfect family day..

Evil magic pants!!!

Every woman has their own insecurities after having children, some even way before there bundles of joys’s created kangaroo pouches for them 🙂

Everyone has that one piece of clothing that they love, but it just doesn’t fit how it used to anymore.. (no matter how much we jump around and dangle upside down off the bed.. No? That must be just me then.)

Nowadays we are promised quick fix solutions to this kind of problem… Pain free ones too may I add.

Hello Magic Pants!!!

Can you imagine the joy in my heart when I stumbled across you whilst buying the little man some new bits online (and maybe a few essentials for me too )

I just had to purchase you. I knew you could make my wardrobe complete and make me look so much more sophisticated.

I knew you would make me look like I had the best curves around.. Not some leftover podge that didn’t want to budge.

I had been informed previously that these little beauties can do wonders to your body, I couldn’t wait for you to arrive so I could test you for myself.

I opted for the all-in-one bodice.
Thinking of all the outfits I could start to wear, I got a little giddy with excitement.

Rushing upstairs to try you on, I stumbled at the first hurdle..
How were you supposed to hold me in if you weren’t prepared to go past my thighs without a major struggle?

After a good 5-10 minutes you gave in.. Even though I had slight friction marks, no one could deny it was 1 to me and 0 to you!!

As I continued to hop and shimmy across the bedroom, I slowly but surly managed to wiggle into you. mission complete…

On standing up I realised that I couldn’t breathe properly and felt way to constricted. How tight did you need to be??

As much as I loved seeing my figure all nice and Shapley I needed to get you off me ASAP.. I hadn’t purchase some magic underwear, I had purchased a boa constrictor in disguise.

Calling our for the big man in slow short breaths, he came to my rescue. Or so I thought…

Taking one look at me gasping for air and unable to stand up straight, he broke out into a fit of laughter.

Men can be so cruel at times…

Didn’t he realise that now was not the time for laughing? I would happily laugh later on, but right that second I wanted it off like yesterday!!!

Once his fit of giggles had subsided and he saw I was actually in pain, he came to help me out of new skin.

I loved learning about the Victorian times, but I wouldn’t have been able to cope in those corset and basks!! How on earth did they talk to each other or move?

We couldn’t get it off, we pulled and we tugged, all while my whole body felt like it was on fire. I was sure I was going to bruise 😦

All I wanted was to look a little less wobbly every now and again. I didn’t expect you to give me all this drama.

What did I ever do to you??

So I am guessing the moral of the story is, If you can’t get it past the thighs, leave it there as it most definitely won’t come off without a struggle.

I’m sure there are a lot of people out there, who like me often jump at the chance of a quick fix…

Who has there own magic pants? Did you suffer the same trauma as me or did I just buy a Dodgy pair??

Shake that wobble..

Most of you will know that I have started to shake my wobble and tone up a little bit.. Or maybe a lot. I mean, Cesarean sections definitely leave a little to much hanging around afterwards don’t they?

So I developed a whole lot of courage and decided to start running a few weeks back. I was so excited. I even went as far as planning what nights I would run, making sure it didn’t clash with my Pilates… go me, how organised!!

I was all geared up ready for my run, dressed in my new workout clothes, iPhone in hand, with all my wonderful thought out power Ballard’s that I had created on a playlist for the occasion…

It was not to be, it was as if my alter ego couldn’t possibly stand the thought of being seen running through the streets resembling a teletubby.

My headphones wouldn’t work!!!

I couldn’t do it.. I couldn’t bring myself to go out running without some music. I knew that if I were to go out on a run, I would have just walked (again my will power is ridiculously weak!!) I even searched the house upside down for the big mans headphones. That’s how excited I had become, I was quite gutted actually and took a moment to feel sorry for my little old wobbly self.

At least if I had my headphones in I would be able to concentrate on my music rather than watching the people staring at me that wouldn’t actually be staring at me.

It’s such a scary thought going for a run all alone!

I decided that I would purchase some new headphones as soon as possible. I didn’t want to put my running mission off, I know me and I know that if I didn’t act quick I would lose all interest in running all together and I couldn’t let that happen.

Before I went to buy some new headphones the big man found his.. I got a little bit excited that I could go running sooner rather than later. BUT, they didn’t work either. My poor phone was broke, 16 days after my warranty had run out would you believe!!

I couldn’t believe it, I clearly wasn’t destined to run at all. I even tried some of my friend’s headphones just incase the big mans were faulty, again I had the same outcome…

My phone no longer loved me.

Still not happy that my phone was not playing nice and affecting my plans, I decided to play Sherlock. After numerous forums it seemed that this problem was quite common. So I took it upon myself to reset my phone (after backing up all my precious pictures and video’s of the little man)… It worked, my phone decided to play nice and loved me once again 🙂

I was so happy, that within half an hour I was dressed in my new workout clothes and headed out the door on my first run in a good few years.

I had my music blaring as I let the world pass me by. The best bit about it all? I got to shake my wobble looking like a teletubby without a care in the world.

I can’t wait for my next run on Monday. Hopefully I’m not in too much pain tomorrow.

And to my wonderful headphones, I love you more than you will ever know 😉

Xx

The A-Z of my little family 3/26

C is for Cranky…

Cranky is your cuddley friend,
he is with you all the time
Cranky needs to have a wash,
but you think he smells just fine

Cranky has two brothers,
you like to have all three
You keep them close together,
sometimes hidden between your knees

Cranky is your cuddley friend,
he keeps you snug and warm
Cranky has been with you all the time,
ever since we brought you home.

Cranky is also very cheeky,
apparently just the same as you
If something spills or falls on the floor,
cranky is to blame too

Cranky keeps you happy,
you cuddle him when you’re sad
Cranky is your cuddley friend,
but he still smells pretty bad.

#fitnessfanaticfridays week 2

Week 2 has come around fast…

I can’t believe we are into the second week already. I have been so busy all week that it only dawned on me last night that its the big weigh in for me today 😮

I haven’t exercised as much as I should have this week, but I have tried to be good with my food choices.

At work I have still opted for the soup as its very filling and it doesn’t tend to bloat me throughout the day. On hungrier days I normally grab a whole meal roll to give me that extra fill for the rest of the day.

I really must start getting into the habit of eating breakfast too. I find I get obscenely hungry throughout the day if I eat breakfast though. Does anyone else have this problem? maybe it will pass in time when my body becomes used to being force fed food as soon as its on the move.

Over the weekend I am going to put together a meal plan for the week ahead. This will then hopefully keep me organised throughout the week and I can prevent the naughty treats a little more 🙂

Once I have purchased my ingredients online (I can’t imagine purposely ruining my weekend by rushing around in a packed out Asda) I can decide what we are having and when.

So this past weeks efforts have led me to lose a total 2LBS!! I’m very impressed with this considering my exercise was lacking somewhat this week.

I will check on my inches tonight and add them next week (scary!!!) to see if there has been a difference.

How did you do this week? I’d love to hear what you have been doing for #fitnessfanaticfriday 🙂

Let’s make a home..

So far this year we have been slowly but surely turning our little house into the perfect family home for us to share with the little man.

20130425-201703.jpg

Whenever you move into a new house, its always a work in progress. There is always some kind of work that needs carrying out or some particular feature that must be changed.

Normally we would have painted and rushed along with the odd jobs that needed doing, but seeing as we don’t have any plans to move anytime soon, we thought, instead of making do and just changing a few parts we would take our time and make it OURS.

20130425-202346.jpg

It has definitely taken some time, but now.. Finally after so long the place is starting to look like home. The big man obviously takes all the credit though, as I am absolutely diabolical when it comes to DIY!! Not only has he laid down all new flooring, he has made me a wonderful breakfast bar too. I’m quite lucky to have a handy man around the house 🙂

Our carpet has arrived and has finally been fitted into place and our bedroom now feels like a bedroom instead of a dumping ground. I have a few finishing touches to add (that’s where I come in, I love nothing more than to scatter my possessions, mainly candles about the place and make things look pretty) and then we can sit back and enjoy our lovely family home.

I have seen a lot of wall art around and I am currently deciding what to choose for our bedroom. The little man is going to be having a feature wall made up of all his favourite characters. Fortunately he has an extremely talented auntie who will be doing this for him. I can’t for her to get started on it 🙂
