Biting the bullet again.

Yes it is true…

As of Tuesday I will be wobbling all the way to Slimming World.

I have followed Slimming World in the past, by my little old self from home and I lost just short of 2 stone in 6 weeks…

I was amazed by the results, but LIFE happens and sometimes we go way off track.

What can I say? I love being bad when it comes to food and I thought that’s what SYNS were for.

A couple of my friends from work have been attending the classes so I thought I would join in on the fun and sign up at a class too.

My theory being that because ‘LIFE happens’ whenever we feel the need to go off track we will have each other to lean on and keep going.

I’m quite excited about this little adventure, and even more so about swapping recipe ideas.

Wish me luck and hopefully I shall start to reap the benefits along with my running and Pilates in the very near future.

Away with the Fairies.

When the weather is grim I allow my mind to wander off to a different place and imagine what my perfect retreat would be like including lots of sunshine and fun.

My perfect retreat would be a lovely cottage surrounded by green fields where pretty little flowers bloomed. Lots of cute pretty butterfly’s would be flying around the freshly cut lawns. There would be lots of outdoor space for the little man to play, and come with a tree-house fully equipped for action packed days of fun for all of us to enjoy. We would have a beautiful bench in front of the large bay window for mummy and daddy to enjoy our morning coffee whilst the little man runs around.

It would be lovely and cosy on the inside, with a huge log fire for those cold windy nights to keep us nice and warm, where we could toast marshmallows and eat them with melted chocolate. Big cushions and throws would be scattered around for extra comfort to join our carefree ways.

It would be set somewhere that experienced real seasons that lasted the length of time that real seasons should.

Daffodils would appear on time in spring, summer would be long and warm. In my imaginary place the autumn leaves would fall crisply to the ground with conkers hidden underneath for us to find and winter would consist of nothing but snowfall, Christmas films by the log fire with our three little snowmen watching from the outside. Not forgetting making snow angels everyday.

It would be magical, every last moment of it. We laugh and run around without a care in the world. Daddy would spend the day cutting wood for the log fire to store throughout the year. I would make delicious home made meals from scratch all the time and it would be perfect.

Needless to say if I ever experience a windfall this is most likely where you shall find us 🙂

The A-Z of my little family 4/26

D is for Dummy…

Back when you were born
your suction skills weren’t great,
Mummy and daddy were worried
as you only weighed 5lb 8

The nurses whipped you off
all the way to speacial care,
I needed to know what was wrong
and I found waiting so unfair

Finally when I could move
your Daddy wheeled me down,
You lay there sleeping in your cot
with the most cutest perfect frown

You looked so small but perfect
and oh so edibly scrummy,
What made you even cuter
was the size of your first dummy

Because you were so small,
It covered most of your face,
Mummy and daddy have kept it
To remind us of this perfect time and place.

Home sweet home.

This week I thought I would add a photo to #magic moments.

This was taken just before we were allowed to take the little man home. After two weeks in special care and being separated from my baby every night, it was hard to imagine when this day would arrive.

IMG00130-20110322-1120

Finally it came, and my little man could come home all healthy and no longer need that horrible canular for those antibiotics.

He was so small, his new-born ‘coming home’ outfit was nearly twice the size of him.

Treat Daddy this Father’s Day..

Dads deserve to be treated too…

Why are men so hard to buy for? Whenever I go shopping for my dad or the big man, whether it be for Christmas, birthdays or Father’s Day, nothing ever seems to jump out at me.

They can be so hard to surprise as well. There are only so many years you can buy socks three times a year. But then again, dads always need socks.

So to hopefully make this Father’s Day easier for you lovely people out there, I have searched and searched to come up with some of what I feel are the best gift ideas out there this year.

A personalised Poster

Why not treat Dad to a personalised poster. You can have up to six lines of words that mean the most to you and your dad – say thanks, share a personal joke. Truly make it personal in a way that only you can.

Size: 297 x 420 mm and fits standard frames.

The poster is supplies without a frame, you can pick these up in the majority or stores and supermarkets at a relatively good price.

Playstation 3 500GB Slim in Red

Even though the console is new, dad can still play all his favourite PS3 games. Not only is it a console but a built-in home entertainment system allowing you to play Blu-ray Discs, music CD’s and also watch TV via the BBC iPlayer and 4OD.

A book of memories

I have always loved making keepsakes. I was ‘the’ friend that always had the disposable camera at weekends. I just love to make memories. As you can imagine I have used Photobox many times.

How about making a ‘This is your life’ for Dad this year? Imagine his face as he looks back through the years and all the memories it will bring back.

Who knows, the Grandchildren may even enjoy looking through this and learning the marvelous stories behind the Photos.

Make Dad Laird of the Manor

What can you buy a Dad who has everything?

A new Title… Why not make Dad the Laird of his Manor this year. Once this title has been purchased Dad can officially change his Title from Mr to Laird. And not only that he will also become the owner of a plot of land too.

The website has a full list of FAQ’s for any further information you may like to know,

Back to reality

There really isn’t anything better than having some well needed time off to spend with your nearest and dearest. No matter what job role you have, everyone needs that little bit of ‘me’ time.

Now I don’t have an over strenuous job, but I love nothing more than having some time off so that I can spend some full on quality time with my boys. I always feel so much better in myself when I take that time out to relax and do what I want, when I want.

This week has been no exception and didn’t I book the perfect week? The weather has been beautiful for most of it. We have had days where we have been out for walks all day, feeding the ducks and going to the park and we have also had days where we have stayed in our pyjamas and watched Disney films all day.

I can tell my little man has enjoyed having mummy and daddy all to himself all week. He has been full of smiles, constant laughter and hardly any tantrums at all… and his vocabulary is coming on brilliantly. I wish we could be like this all day everyday but unfortunately reality comes knocking and its back to work we go.

A week goes by far too quickly and soon it will be monday again. Next time I may request a two-week break instead and possibly look at taking the little man away as he is getting older. Most likely back to Haven or centre parcs.

I can’t wait to take him abroad, but as he is still quite young and extremely fair-skinned I worry of how he will feel being in a warmer climate. I think we would be best leaving this until he can fully explain to us how he is feeling.

The week isn’t over yet, we still have soft play to attend to on saturday and a lovely roast dinner out somewhere on  sunday which will make a nice change to the big man cooking. If the weather continues to go downhill we can always have an indoor barbecue.

I hope you are all enjoying your week too.

Nan I miss you most..

I miss you most at night-time
as my eyes are tired and weary,
I love to remember when I was young
as I can picture you and me clearly.

Back when I was little
You put my hair in rags,
You always kept me smiling
even when I was feeling sad.

You came to every Sports Day
nothing ever seemed to much,
I miss your words of wisdom
and your brilliant perfect hugs.

You loved me through the good times
and surprisingly through the bad,
You were by far the perfect Grandma
and I so wish I could have you back.

You managed to meet my little man
if only for a short time,
I knew he would have loved you,
I’m extremely grateful you were in my life.

I miss you most when I am alone
when my thoughts tend to wonder,
As I pick up the phone to tell you my news
I stop and remember, I only wish you could have been here longer.

Summer is here..

What glorious weather we have been having recently. I don’t want to jinx it but we can all agree that it doesn’t last for long.

So seeing as this is my week off from work, and it has landed on such a fabulous week, me and the big man decided to make the most of it.

We had planned to take the little man to the park yesterday but as it was so hot we decided against the idea.
He’s extremely pale like me and his daddy and I’m a bit wary of him being out in the sun.

We decided on our food shop instead and mainly bought picnic sets and some outdoor toys for the little man, now that its nicer outside he loves playing in the back garden, also giving him a healthy dose of fresh air too 🙂

Today however we made the trip to the park. Complete with a perfect picnic made by daddy. It was very yummy 🙂 We brought lots of toys too to play with, from the little mans favourite ball to his bowling set.

Once we plastered him in factor 50 we were on our way. We stopped off to see the ducks by the river before finding a Perfect shady spot to have our picnic.

The little man had other ideas though, he wanted to get straight on the swings. The park was relatively peaceful as all the children were at school and this gave the little man and his cousin free reign of the place.

We finished off with a game of football. Daddy was definitely down with the kids during the game. They absolutely loved it.

Tomorrow we have a date with my bestest and my Godson, I will be getting cuddles all morning.
I shall also be making a visit to my nephew/eldest Godson who will be the big 8 in the morning… It doesn’t feel that long ago i was sat in the audience of Jerry springer whilst my sister was in labour.. Yes I am starting to feel old 🙂

I hope you are all enjoying the weather this week too 🙂

Hello Fairy Godmother

Yesterday marked the day of my Godson’s christening.

I woke up extra early just to make sure there were no last-minute things to do, living with two boys you can imagine something would need re-ironing or their shoes would have gone missing in the middle of the night. I was pleasantly surprised when nothing needed doing at all so I took this wonderful opportunity to leave the boys in bed a little bit longer and settled down with a glorious cup of coffee.

At about 9.45am I decided to wake the lazy ones 🙂 I was all ready by this point, minus the rollers in my hair (Looking very Glam might I add lol!!)

The boy’s were ready in no time and before we knew it, lunchtime had arrived and we had to hit the road – after making a pit stop to McDonald’s for the little man to keep him going before the service.

I’m not going to lie, I was a bit worried to how the little man would act in the church. He has never really liked much fuss and sometimes when there are a lot of people around, especially ones he doesn’t know it can be a bit overwhelming for him. He did great though, not a single cry out of him 🙂

My little Godson did brilliantly too, smiling all the way through the service, even when it came to the water. He looked so cute in his little romper suit too, My bestest (his mummy) looked beautiful as always, seriously she doesn’t even look like she has had a baby 7 months ago.

The after party was located at a lovely golf club surrounded by fantastic scenery, and it was perfect for the little ones to run around and play. The little man caught the attention of a few little girls and before the day was out they were trading dummies and mummy’s bracelets.

Parents take note: it mustn’t be done with rings these days!!!

It was lovely catching up with old friends from school, some me and the Big man haven’t seen for years. It’s great how you can just pick up from where you last left off with them.

Most importantly I am extremely proud to have been given the privilege of being Fairy Godmother to such a beautiful little boy.

My little man was having a fantastic time, but it will be a long way off before he is allowed to date any of those lovely little ladies and I am sure their parents feel the same too. We had a lovely time celebrating this very special occasion an I look forward to many many more 🙂

Review: Funky Giraffe Bandana bibs

Who can’t resist baby clothes?

They have always been one of my weaknesses when I am shopping, either on-line or doing the weekly shop.

So when I was given an opportunity to review these beautiful bandana bibs by funky giraffe I jumped at the chance.

20130504-190703.jpg

I had never come across a product as unique as this previously and I think the concept and the designs are fantastic.

These bibs were designed for babies from birth and lasting up-to when they no longer need them – this then saving mummy and daddy a small fortune as their baby grows.

You can find a whole range of wonderful products here

The range includes:

~ Bandana bibs from £1.98
~ Burp clothes from £4
~ Personalised Bandana bibs from £4
~ XL Bandana bibs from £3
~ Playsuits/rompers from£7

20130504-190728.jpg

20130504-190742.jpg

The concept:
~ The concept of this product is to last your baby from birth until there is no use for a bib anymore. Not only are they soft and excellent value for money, they are also extremely funky and will jazz up any outfit.

The Design:
~ The design of this product is fantastic. They have been designed perfectly to fit baby snug around the neck creating comfort. They are also backed with the highest quality cotton to prevent irritation and dampness to your baby’s skin.
They come complete with x 2 Nickel free poppers to prevent those eager small hands from trying and usually succeeding in removing unwanted items of clothing.
And if all that wasn’t fabulous enough, ALL orders come with free postage and packaging.

Head on over to funkygiraffe today and have a look. It may well be the best purchase you have made in a while.

These products would also be great as presents for a family member or friends too. Did I mention you can also have them personalised?
